This moody, layered panel holds 40 floral tributes, reflecting the harrowing reality of smoke-filled safe houses and the unimaginable terror endured on October 7. As I created this piece, I was struck by the enormity of the resilience these victims had to summon in the face of such cruelty.
Flecks of gold and vivid bursts of color rise from an ash-toned background, visual metaphors for the strength that emerged even in the darkest moments. Some parents shielded their children, trying to keep them safe and quiet as smoke filled their homes.

Their courage defies comprehension. I hold each of them, and their families, in my heart as I honor their memory with reverence and love.
